01 · OVERVIEWWhat is Tao Cat

A black ink cat that sits on a river rock with its eyes closed. Storms come, monkeys panic, the mountain behind it goes up and down like a chart. The cat does not move, and because it does not move it never loses.

The site is a hanging scroll, painted in sumi-e ink on rice paper. You unroll it by scrolling. Four verses, one seal at the bottom with the contract on it.

Character: One plump black cat, eyes closed, tail around its paws, has not stood up in living memory

Place: A flat rock in a stream, misty mountains, one bare branch with one red leaf

02 · THE SCROLLThe four verses
